Have you ever wondered how the trainers at Sea World get the 19,000-pound whale to jump 22 feet out of water and perform tricks? They get that whale to go over a rope farther out of the water than most of us can imagine. (1) . So how do the trainers at Sea World do it? The first thing they do is reinforce(强化) the behavior that they want repeated — in this case, to get the whale to go over the rope. (2) , in a position where the whale can't help but do what's expected of it. Every time the whale goes over the rope, it's given positive reinforcement and gets fed with fish. But what happened when the whale goes under the rope? Nothing — no criticism, no warning and no feedback. (3) . Positive reinforcement is the key of that simple principle that produces such splendid results. And as the whale begins to go over the rope more often than under, the trainers begin to raise the rope. It must be raised slowly enough so that the whale doesn't starve.
(4) . Make a big deal out of the good and little stuff that we want consistently. Secondly, under-criticize. People know they need help when they mess up. (5) , people will not forget the event and usually will not repeat it.
So we need to set up the circumstances so that people can't fail. Over-celebrate, under-criticize…and know how far to raise the rope.

I work at a community library. Many people are under the assumption that public libraries are no longer needed because of the Internet. Nothing could be further from the truth. (1) . A simple Internet search for \"cats\" produces approximately 2.98 billion results in less than one second. It is a huge number! How do you even begin to sort through all of those results? We hear so much about \"false news\". (2) . Librarians are there to help. They have been trained, through special classes and workshops, to sort through all of the results and find credible sources. Author Neil Gaiman said, \"Google can bring you back 100, 000 answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one.\"
(3) . It helps connect people with the resources they need to find a job, continue their education, and learn new skills. It helps seniors find the resources they need to keep up with the \"modern\" world. It helps new parents develop a love for literacy in their children and bond with them.It helps local artists and craftsmen display their work. It helps students find the answers to those seemingly impossible homework questions. It allows people to meet and exchange ideas.
Libraries are so much more than books and information. Yes, there are public computers, Internet access, movies, music, programs and a thousand other things. (4) . They are places where people feel safe and welcomed. They are places where someone who has limited resources can freely access materials and equipment they wouldn't otherwise be able to. They can, at times, be a harbor for someone who needs a quiet place to work or study. Some of the best memories of my childhood involve going to the local library and in
speaking with many others in the neighborhood, they too have those same memories. They are presently making those same memories with their children and their grandchildren. (5) . I don't see the Internet doing that.
A.We don't know what sources to trust.
B.The public library helps people better their lives. C.The importance of library staff comes to the surface.
D.However, libraries' meaning and relevance goes even beyond that. E.The public library brings people together to build a strong community.

How much do you know about colors? The colors that you select create a distinct atmosphere in the room. (1) E.
Pick the color for your room and you can create whatever you feel like. The color will also help you to enlarge the space or making it more inviting, which will also make differently all about it.
However, the trick is to select the right version of that particular color. There are different hues (色调) for blues, for instance. (2) Here we have presented a guide that will let you gain a deep insight about the colors. Blue
(3) For kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms it is an ideal choice. Of course it is also associated with sadness that means it may not strike note for each and everyone. It is a popular choice among people. Blue comes from the cold side of the color wheel, so it can make the room feel cold, unless and until it is south filling space. If you are attracted to blue color, think of going for purple, or mix red and purple.
Dark blue is best for a living room. Probably it is best reserved for high ceiling space. (4) Green
Like blue, green is also a calm shade. (5) It is the shade that reflects nature and renewal. Green produces a positive energy without the feeling of over stimulation. A. Colors can light up the mood of the room. B. You can use it for a living room or a bedroom.
C. They won't create similar effect and atmosphere generally. D. Traditionally, blue is just related to calmness and comfort. E. It is better that you select colors that are very warm like blue. F. How to Rent Your House
Before handing the keys to your house over to a complete stranger for care, there are decisions you need to make. In fact, the decisions you make now, before searching for a tenant (房客), will make the biggest impact on the success of your rental. (1) What Condition Do You Want Your House in?
There is no end to the amount of improving you can do to your house before renting it out. (2) When is good enough, good enough?
A house should be clean, empty (unless you are offering it \"furnished\", which is uncommon) and free from any major repairs at the time the tenant moves in. Remember, the home does not need to be as fancy as you would want it to be. (3) Tenants will generally never take as good care of your house as you do-so don't spend too much time or money making unnecessary upgrades that will only be ignored or broken. Should You Use a Property Manager? (4) If you have the time, abilities, and energy to manage yourself-you can save a good deal of money by doing so. However, if you try to manage without the ability-it could end up costing you much more than what a property manager might charge. How Much Can You Rent Your House for?
Luckily, discovering what the monthly rent will bear for your house is not difficult. (5) In business, market research means to get out there and find out what others in your industry are charging; learning how much to charge for rent is no different. Your house will generally rent for about the same amount as other properties that are of similar location, size and condition.
A. The problem becomes learning when to stop.
B. No one wants to be a landlord with those problems.
C. The following are some questions to answer before you rent out you house.
D. Have a professional carpet cleaner clean the carpets before showing the property. E. Look around at other rentals in your area and try to see what the typical quality is. F. The best way to determine how much your house will rent for is to simply do market research.
G. The decision about whether to manage yourself or hire a property manager cannot be made by anyone other than you.

If you stayed up or had a bad night of sleep last night, you know it's difficult to stay awake in class today. Your teacher's voice might begin to sound like a lullaby(催眠曲). (1) To keep yourself awake, some tips are worth trying in class.
Sit in the front of the room. Why? (2) Besides, it'll be easier to pay attention and participate when you're in the front. You'll also be near the people who are more likely to participate, and the sound of their voices might keep you awake.
(3) Ask and answer questions and pay attention to the lecture. This will help if you're tired

or discouraged by the content of the lecture, because you can ask your teacher questions to get to the bottom of the problems. Talking will also keep you engaged and alert. It might be helpful to make a goal for yourself to answer or ask at least 3 questions per class. (4) For example, you might say \"I didn't understand the last part of the proof. Could you explain it again in more detail?\"
Listen actively to the lesson. Active listening is a great way to force yourself to stay awake because it requires engagement of your mind as well as your body. (5) To effectively listen to your teacher, you should try to maintain eye contact, face the speaker, pay close attention to what the speaker is saying and ask questions during a pause in the lecture. A. Participate in class activities. B. Develop interest in the subject.
C. If so, classrooms can be boring because you're tired.
D. Keep silent all the time and try to catch as much information as possible.
E. To avoid annoying your teacher you should try to keep your questions on topic.

What's the purpose of building patience abilities? In a word, happiness. Better relationships, more success. But indeed it takes effort to build them successfully. (1) Thus, when the big ones come, we will have developed the patience we need for hard times. Understand the addictive nature of anger and impatience. We, human beings, are still constructed with our old reptilian(爬行动物似的) brain that protects our physical and emotional survival. On the emotional survival side, we want our way to get ahead, to achieve, to \"look good. \" Let's just face it. (2) So the first step in growing patience is to get in touch with the addictive quality of the opposite of patience-anger, impatience, blaming and shaming. We all have them. And we can grow beyond them.
Upgrade our attitude towards discomfort and pain. Pain has its purposes and pushes us to find solutions-we try to change the other person, situation or thing that we think is causing our discomfort. But the problem is that it is not the outside thing that's the source of our pain, but how our mind is set. (3) Pay attention when the impatience or pain starts. Most of us don't really realize it when we are feeling even the smallest-but very present-painful feelings. (4) But to really care for ourselves, get curious about what's actually happening in the moment inside you. Focusing on what's actually happening, you can notice the worry of not wanting what 's happening, the resistance.
(5) When you find yourself impatient, or angry with yourself, you can remind yourself that you are growing, and that, \"Sure, this is understandable; this is what happens to me when I'm bothered.\" You can say to yourself, \" It's true. I don't like this; this is uncomfortable, but I can tolerate it.

Smart devices are sometimes powerful. They put a world of information at our
fingertips. (1) That is a huge blessing for parents seeking flexible work hours. Smart phones and tablets can also promote efficiency by allowing people to get things done in spare moments that would otherwise be wasted, such as while queuing for coffee. They can even help lazybones create the false impression that they are working around the clock, by programming their e-mail to be sent at 1 am.
But for most people, the servant has become the master. Not long ago only doctors were on call all the lime. Now everybody is. Bosses think nothing of invading their employees' free time. (2) Even people with strong mind check their smart devices with heavy addiction, even during pre-dinner drinks, and send e-mails first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
(3) How can we harvest the benefits of connectivity without becoming its slaves? One solution is digital dieting. Just as the abundance of junk food means that people have to be more disciplined about their eating habits, (4) Maybe the only way to break the 24/7 habit is to act together rather than individually. The firms should introduce rules about when people are expected to be offline, and encourage them to work together to make this possible. We must be aware that the faster smart devices become and the more addictive the apps that are designed for them, the stronger the addiction will grow. (5) A. This is partly because smart devices are addictive.
B. Work invades the home far more than domestic chores invade the office.
C. Now it's time to outsmart the smart devices by insisting that everyone turn them off from time to lime.
D. the abundance of junk information means we have to be more disciplined about our browsing habits.

Vitamin D is necessary for bone-building, immune (免疫)function, blood sugar control , positive mood and more.
